Britain for Events 2010

Britain for Events 2010

Celebrating its 10th year, the Britain for Events 2010 campaign will continue to build on the success of previous years; engaging with government and building relationships with businesses outside of our industry.

Led by Simon Mills and Nathan Alemany from VisitBritain and supported by Davies Tanner, the initiative incorporates National Meetings and Events Week which takes place from 18th-24th October 2010.

The campaign is targeted towards the international business community, with the aim of raising awareness of the UK events industry and the value of face to face communication and live events. To highlight this, a national media campaign focuses on a number of messages including:

  • Britain’s events industry is worth almost £25 billion
  • The sector directly employs over 530,000 people
  • Meetings and events showcase Britain to over 8 million international business
  • The sector is vital to over 25,000 small businesses and supports hotels, venues, attractions, transport, caterers and more
  • Meetings and events contribute to national and regional infrastructure development
  • The economic benefit of meetings and events from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is forecast to be £1.8 billion

In addition to a growing portfolio of business tourism brands already supporting the campaign, VisitBritain has also secured support from major corporate brands including Virgin Atlantic, The Premier League and Costa Coffee.
