What we're up to

There has been lots of PR activity over the last three months and we have selected a few stories to share with you.

Liverpool’s Green Meeting
Liverpool is a green destination for meetings and events, but rather than just say this we wanted to show it! Cue some grass and a turfed table and the green boardroom was born! The photo op and surrounding story that more than half (56%) of employed respondents from a national survey of 2,014 UK adults said green issues are important to their company is certainly provoking discussion. Natural History Museum
Following a brand partnership developed by Davies Tanner with the Natural History Museum, Asiana Weddings magazine and Madhu’s caterers, the account team are celebrating after a successful Elite Bride show at the end of April.

The museum’s Central Hall was transformed into an Asian wedding extravaganza complete with floral decorations, dinner, mini exhibition and a stunning catwalk show showcasing some of the leading fashion suppliers in the industry. The event attracted 300 couples looking for a wedding venue along with some of the leading wedding media, even being filmed by wedding TV! We were also delighted to hear that a high number of enquiries were generated on the day.

ICC London ExCeL soon to be unveiled
Its official, Boris Johnson and His Excellency Sheikh Sultan are to launch ICC London ExCeL on 24th June.

The venue will open its doors to 500 guests from a cross section of the meetings and events industry and UK and European media. George P Johnson is producing the landmark event on behalf of ExCeL London to ensure it is a great success.

Prior to the official launch, our very own MD Robert Wright will be moderating the London Future Forum, a panel debate bringing together representatives from the Mayor’s Office, the International Special Events Society (ISES), the London 2012 Olympic Games, ExCeL London and leading experience marketing representatives. The purpose of the event is to consider London’s critical position as a centre of excellence for live events and seek input from an audience of 50 of the event industry CEOs, owners and directors.

Church House Conference Centre hosts the first Labour Leadership Debate
This week saw our Westminster client, Church House Conference Centre host the first Labour leadership debate. With Ed Miliband, David Miliband, Ed Balls and Diane Abbott all in attendance; the Assembly Hall accommodated over 600 MPs and press including the BBC, ITV, Channel Four and SKY. The event which kick-started the debate about the future of the party was the first time the Labour candidates had a chance to battle it out following nominations.

“Church House Conference Centre has always proven popular for governmental events. Our Westminster location, flexibility and security sees us host a multitude of high profile parliamentary conferences and debates each year, and as with all our events, the Labour leader debate was a massive success,” commented Robin Parker, General Manager for Church House Conference Centre.

SECC joined by ‘World Champions’ for 25th birthday
In its 25th Anniversary Year, the iconic Glasgow venue is recognising 25 organisations and individuals which have made a positive impact on the business over the years.

Their latest award celebrates the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) and its worldwide membership and has been given to IAPCO president Philippe Fournier in recognition of the large number of international association events that the venue has hosted over the years

Ben Goedegebuure, Director of Sales, SECC comments: “International conferences have played a huge part in building our business over the past 25 years and with this award we would like to thank all those international events that have been hosted at our venue. There is no doubt that organisations like IAPCO have been instrumental in putting both the venue and the city of Glasgow on the international conference map. Without the support and trust of IAPCO members we couldn’t have grown our reputation as a business tourism destination as quickly as we did.”
